St. George Green Chile Vodka

Green Chile paints a portrait of perfectly picked peppers. Master distiller Lance Winters created St. George Green Chile Vodka to capture the kaleidoscope of flavor found in fresh peppers. Jalapeños, serranos, habañeros, and bell peppers build layers of soft, sweet heat, while lime and cilantro add a chef’s touch.

The Spirit

While it leads with a nose of fresh green chiles, this surprisingly nuanced vodka explodes with sweet bell pepper on the tongue before finishing with tangy, vegetal notes. Spirits are our form of self-expression, and Green Chile showcases our love for the wide variety of flavors to be found in fresh peppers.

What’s in it?

While we love spicy foods, we didn’t want to make a pepper vodka that was all about setting your mouth on fire. Peppers are a fruit, after all, and we wanted to capture all the juicy qualities of that fruit in addition to the spice. We use five locally-grown varieties in our Green Chile Vodka (jalapeños, serranos, habañeros, red and yellow bell peppers) that build layers of sweet, savory heat. Lime peel and fresh cilantro add even more vibrance and depth.

The Process

It takes three separate processes to get the precise balance of flavors we seek in Green Chile. We put the jalapeños and lime peel into the pot of our custom Arnold Holstein stills. The cilantro goes into a basket at the top, where the vapor from the distillation can gently capture the delicate nuances of this fragrant herb. We then infuse fresh serranos, habañeros, and sweet peppers separately so we can adjust the blend to account for seasonal differences. They give Green Chile its distinctive light green tint.

The Experience

St. George Green Chile Vodka is remarkably fresh, with a juicy, vegetal quality that makes it both unique and delicious. The nose is rich and earthy. The palate is soft and fruit-forward, supported by the herbal complexity of the cilantro and the tang of the lime peel. It finishes with just the right amount of heat.

Green Chile’s fresh pepper flavor makes it ideal for Bloody Marys. Moscow Mules stand out with its extra kick. It’s a natural split base for a Margarita and it freshens up a Gimlet beautifully. Mix it up with fresh juices like pineapple or watermelon whenever you’re craving something fresh and spicy in your glass.
